Moscow Joins List of Russian Regions Banned from Crypto Mining
Russia has expanded its restrictions on cryptocurrency mining to include Moscow and the surrounding region. The ban, which is set to take effect on August 15, 2026, and run through December 31, 2032, aims to address concerns over power supply in these areas.
The new rules add Moscow, the Moscow Region, and parts of Kursk Region to the list of restricted areas. This measure expands existing restrictions on cryptocurrency mining in areas facing electricity supply concerns.
In addition to Moscow and the surrounding region, earlier restrictions were also introduced in several other Russian regions, including parts of Buryatia and the Zabaykalsky Krai.
