Moscow Raids Coincide with Russian Cryptocurrency Regulations
Law enforcement raids on unregistered cryptocurrency exchanges in Moscow coincided with the introduction of new regulations governing digital currencies. In one of the searches, officers found more than 10 million rubles in cash, as well as seized documents and computer equipment.
The raids occurred at the 'Gorbushka' shopping complex, where investigators initially focused on cryptocurrency exchanges before expanding their search to regular offices. Employees were questioned after the searches, including a courier who was detained for bringing a large sum of cash to exchange into cryptocurrency.
A week earlier, the FSB had conducted an operation against illegal crypto exchanges in 'Moscow City,' detaining over 20 people and shutting down nine unregistered exchange points. The detainees were charged with large-scale fraud, allegedly linked to Ukrainian call centers.
