Most Americans Disapprove of Trump's Cryptocurrency Profits

Share

A new poll has found that most Americans believe it is inappropriate for President Trump to profit from cryptocurrency while in office. The Reuters/Ipsos poll, conducted between August 14th and 17th, showed that 63% of respondents thought it was wrong for the president and his family to benefit financially from digital assets.

Last month, top Senate Democrats called out Trump for the more than $1 billion in cryptocurrency-related income he reported last year. They pushed for probes into potential national security consequences of the president's holdings.

The poll results come as controversy surrounds Trump's financial disclosures, which revealed he made around $594 million from a crypto venture he started with his sons two years ago, World Liberty Financial. He also earned an additional $635 million related to his meme coin.

Trump has denied any wrongdoing, stating 'I could know about it. I didn't. There's nothing illegal. There's nothing wrong with it' in a recent interview.
