Most Americans Ditch Crypto Investment in 401(k)s Amid Rising Retirement Fears
A recent survey by the National Institute on Retirement Security found that 77% of U.S. adults perceive crypto investment in 401(k) plans as 'high risk'. This diverges from the Trump administration's push to expand access to alternative assets, including digital currencies.
The survey, conducted by Greenwald Research, showed that 46% of respondents considered this risk 'very high', and 53% opposed employers offering crypto assets as an investment option. The survey also revealed widespread anxiety about retirement preparedness, with 80% saying the U.S. is facing a crisis.
NIRS executive director Dan Doonan noted that Americans are confronting new questions surrounding AI and crypto assets, making the retirement landscape increasingly complex.
