Mount Carmel Bans Crypto Mining to Protect Infrastructure

The city council of Mount Carmel, Tennessee, unanimously voted to ban new cryptocurrency mining facilities and data centers within its jurisdiction on July 23.

Mayor John Gibson stated that such operations would strain local infrastructure, including the power grid, and offer little benefit to the community.
