MSSE ETF Launch Sparks Hopes for Ethereum Price Breakthrough
Ethereum is celebrating its eleventh birthday on July 30, but the price remains below $2,000. The latest catalyst for a potential push past this threshold is Morgan Stanley's launch of the Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust (MSSE) ETF, which offers a low-cost and yield-bearing wrapper backed by one of Wall Street's largest firms.
The MSSE ETF carries an expense ratio of 0.14%, making it the cheapest US Ether product available. Morgan Stanley plans to stake between 50% and 80% of its holdings, passing the rewards through to shareholders. This design is intended to pull fresh capital into ETH and quietly remove supply from circulation.
The institutional conviction in Ethereum is building, with reports suggesting that Arthur Hayes purchased over 7,200 ETH in July despite a significant paper loss. US spot Ether ETFs recorded net inflows of $104 million during the week of July 20-24, led by BlackRock's ETHA. The open question now is whether these products can sustain net inflows and give the demand narrative the follow-through it has lacked.
