MSTR Sinks 4.1% Amid Bitcoin Slump and Treasury Concerns
Strategy (MSTR) shares fell by 4.1% on August 14 as Bitcoin dropped 1.8%. The company's large Bitcoin treasury, which often amplifies moves in the underlying cryptocurrency, may be contributing to MSTR's decline.
A recent filing revealed that Strategy sold 3,588 Bitcoins between June 29 and July 5, with proceeds used to fund preferred stock distributions and replenish its U.S. dollar reserve.
The same filing indicated an expected $8.32 billion digital-asset loss for the quarter ended June 30, primarily due to unrealized markdowns.
