MSTR Stock Surges 40% as Bitcoin Rally Lifts Strategy's Holdings
Michael Saylor's company, Strategy (MSTR), has seen its stock surge nearly 40% in one month, from $82 to $140. The rally is closely tied to Bitcoin's recovery from around $60,000 to above $80,650.
Strategy holds a significant amount of BTC, with an average cost of $75,385 per coin. When Bitcoin fell into the low-$60,000 range, the company faced an estimated $9.5 billion paper loss.
However, after Bitcoin moved above $80,000, Strategy's large BTC holdings turned into an estimated $4.2 billion to $4.7 billion unrealized profit. The size of the treasury makes MSTR highly sensitive to Bitcoin price moves, with every $1,000 change in BTC affecting Strategy's value by roughly $840 million.
Strategy has also raised $2.01 billion through its ATM program and placed around $1.59 billion into a new USD cash pool. This move is seen as a sign that the company is not solely focused on accumulating more Bitcoin, but rather diversifying its assets.
The bullish outlook for MSTR is growing, with some predicting it could reach $1,000 if Bitcoin climbs to $500,000. However, the stock remains closely tied to Bitcoin, and a sharp drop in BTC price could quickly erase its recent gains.
