Mt. Gox Repayment Deadline Extended to October 31, 2026
The Mt. Gox repayment deadline has been extended to October 31, 2026, Japan Time, which is equivalent to 16:00 Central European Time on Friday, October 30, 2026.
Creditors who have an approved claim against the former bitcoin exchange must complete their paperwork and set up a payout account by this date. The deadline applies to all three types of payments: Base Repayment, Early Lump-Sum Repayment, and Intermediate Repayment.
The Rehabilitation Trustee, Nobuaki Kobayashi, announced the extension due to delays in procedural steps by creditors. The court in Tokyo must approve any extensions, which is why they often come at short notice.
Creditors can check their status on the creditor portal of the proceeding and ensure that their payout account is set up correctly. They also need to agree to the settlement route through a crypto exchange.
The payouts will be processed through mandated platforms, including Kraken, Bitstamp, BitGo, SBI VC Trade, and Bitbank, which have varying processing windows ranging from 14 to 90 days.
