Mubadala Capital Tokenizes $430B Fund on Public Blockchains with Coinbase Support
Abu Dhabi's Mubadala Capital has taken a significant step into blockchain technology by tokenizing its Alternative Solutions Fund. The fund, which manages $430 billion in assets, is now live on public blockchains and has drawn in $75 million in investments as of July 23, 2026.
The move signals that Mubadala Capital is committed to exploring the potential of blockchain technology, and the company's scale lends weight to this decision. The Alternative Solutions Fund was designed for lower volatility and steady cash yield, drawing on Mubadala's deal flow and co-investment network.
Coinbase has also taken a direct balance sheet stake in the fund, marking an early case of a public crypto firm backing a tokenized fund. Coinbase's head of Institutional, Brett Tejpaul, stated that regulated assets can become programmable on public blockchains, joining a more transparent and accessible economy.
The launch is significant because it shows that institutional capital is moving further onto blockchain networks. KAIO, an infrastructure provider based in the UAE, handles issuance and administration of the fund, with $144 million in tokenized funds now supported overall.
