Multicoin Capital Co-Founder Seeks CFTC Approval for DeFi Safe Harbors and Pre-IPO Perpetuals
Multicoin Capital co-founder Tushar Jain has made several proposals to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to modernize its approach to digital assets and emerging technologies.
The proposals aim to balance innovation with investor protection, including introducing safe harbors and innovation exemptions for emerging markets such as computing derivatives.
Jain also suggested supporting compliant privacy tools within decentralized finance (DeFi), which would allow institutional investors to keep their trading strategies confidential while adhering to regulatory requirements.
An additional proposal involves allowing perpetual futures tied to pre-IPO companies, particularly those in the artificial intelligence sector, which would give retail investors exposure to these companies' performance and facilitate price discovery.
