MultiversX Supernova Hard Fork Set for September 10

The MultiversX Supernova hard fork is scheduled to occur on September 10, 2026. This will be a protocol change that all nodes in the network must adopt simultaneously.

Supernova changes the core of block production, reducing the time it takes to produce a block from six seconds to 600 milliseconds. This is made possible by taking transaction execution out of the critical path of consensus, allowing validators to vote on blocks while execution continues in parallel.

The network will halt for roughly 24 minutes to work through any pending transactions before switching to the new protocol. During this time, no new transactions will be accepted into the pool.

For users who hold their EGLD coins in a self-custody wallet, there is nothing to do. The hard fork maintains backwards compatibility for addresses, private keys, and balances, so wallets and seed phrases remain valid.
