Musk Backs Cloudflare's Forecast: AI Agent Traffic to Surpass Humans 1,000-Fold
Elon Musk has weighed in on the rapid growth of AI agent traffic on the internet, calling Cloudflare's forecast that it will reach 1,000 times human levels within five years 'accurate.'
CFO Thomas Seifert made this projection during Cloudflare's second-quarter earnings call, stating that humans would become 'a rounding error' in terms of online activity.
The trend is already showing signs of accelerating, with independent reports from HUMAN Security and Imperva confirming that AI traffic rose 187% in 2025 and automated requests now make up roughly half of web traffic.
This shift could have significant implications for the way we use the internet, as well as for the digital economy. ARK estimates that AI agents could facilitate around $8 trillion in online commerce by 2030, which is approximately 25% of all digital spending.
