Musk Links Bitcoin Value To Energy Consumption, Confirms DOGE Initiative Continues
Elon Musk reinforced his stance that Bitcoin's value is tied to energy consumption during an interview on Sunday. The Tesla CEO emphasized that 'energy is the true currency' and that governments cannot manufacture it through legislation.
Musk pointed out that Bitcoin mining requires significant electricity to power computers solving cryptographic puzzles, securing the network, and introducing new coins into circulation.
The comments echo Musk's previous statements in October, where he noted that governments can't 'fake' Bitcoin like they do with fiat currencies.
Additionally, Musk discussed his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative, dismissing reports of its closure. He confirmed the project continues to function and described it as an ongoing effort to reveal government operations.
