Musk Warns AI Control Loss in Decade, Lee Sees Skepticism as Bullish Signal

Crypto industry leaders are sharing their views on AI's development and its potential impact on markets. Elon Musk, founder of xAI, predicted that AI will surpass human intelligence in about five years, with humans unlikely to retain control over the technology within a decade.

Musk envisioned an 'age of abundance' where AI and robots provide virtually any goods and services. He acknowledged that the risk of a catastrophic outcome is not zero, estimating the probability of human extinction from AI and robots at 10% to 20%.

Instead of trying to slow development, Musk suggested that leading AI companies regularly discuss safety risks and give competitors limited pre-release access to new frontier models. This would allow competing labs to identify dangerous capabilities before public launch.

Fundstrat Global Advisors Head of Research Tom Lee took a different view, calling investor skepticism about the AI growth cycle a bullish signal. He compared current doubts to late 1990s skepticism about Cisco and other internet companies, suggesting that skepticism often precedes further growth rather than a crash.
