Solana-based meme coin Jimothy (JIMOTHY) saw its price surge by 331% on August 8, 2026, after Elon Musk posted a video of a raccoon to his X account. The token's market capitalization reached $16.2 million and trading volume hit $25.4 million.
The sudden increase mirrors past instances where Musk's social media activity has driven up the value of meme coins. In October 2025, his 'Grok' video boosted FLOKI by around 30%, while a token skyrocketed 42,000% after he simply replied to a post.
Jimothy was launched on Solana's Pump.fun platform in July 2026 and its price has historically been influenced by online attention. Its developers named it after a viral raccoon from Seattle.
