Mysterious Movement of 16-Year-Old Bitcoins Sparks Interest

In a surprising move, an unknown entity has transferred 600 Bitcoins mined in March 2010 for the first time since then. This amounts to approximately $47.7 million at current prices of about $79,500 per coin.

The transfer is significant because it occurred during the 'Satoshi era' when Bitcoin was still a fledgling project and did not have an organized market price yet. The reward for each block mined back then was 50 Bitcoins, which has since decreased to just 3.125 Bitcoins after four halving events.

Data from Whale Alert suggests that the 12 blocks were likely mined by the same entity, but researchers could find no connection between them and Satoshi Nakamoto's mining activity.
