Mystery Ethereum Whale Unloads $408 Million Worth of ETH on Exchanges

A massive Ethereum whale has moved $408 million worth of ETH towards crypto exchanges over the past two days. According to blockchain trackers, the wallet received 167,855 ETH from multiple addresses and deposited 70,739 ETH (about $174M) into exchanges over a 48-hour stretch.

The remaining balance is around 97,115 ETH, worth roughly $237 million, which hasn't moved yet. This move suggests that the whale may be preparing to sell in size, although it's also possible that the funds are being transferred for other reasons such as custody or over-the-counter settlement.

Experts note that consolidating funds from multiple wallets before sending them to exchanges is a common onchain signature. The implied price of ETH in this move is around $2,430, which is roughly in line with where ether has traded through late August.
