Nasdaq Bitcoin Options Approval Put on Hold Amid CME Challenge
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced it will review the approval of bitcoin options on Nasdaq after CME Group challenged the move.
CME, a leading derivatives exchange, had submitted a request to the SEC in July to approve its own bitcoin futures contracts. However, the SEC approved Nasdaq's bitcoin options contract instead.
The SEC stated that it will review its approval of Nasdaq's contract in light of CME's challenge. The agency did not provide further details on what sparked the review or how long it would take to complete.
