Nasdaq Invests US$100 Million in Kraken Parent Payward
Kraken's parent company Payward has secured a US$100 million investment from Nasdaq Ventures, the strategic investment arm of Nasdaq (NDAQ).
The deal is part of a deeper partnership between the two companies, which includes working together on tokenized equities infrastructure and market surveillance.
Payward is collaborating with Nasdaq's Digital Liquidity Networks (DLN) unit on this effort, which aims to build always-on infrastructure for moving capital, assets, and liquidity across global markets.
The companies are also making progress on launching Nasdaq Equity Tokens (NETs), a framework introduced by Nasdaq earlier this year, with plans for a second-quarter 2027 launch.
'Expanding our relationship with Payward reflects our conviction that Kraken can play an important role in building the infrastructure that supports this evolution,' said Tal Cohen, President of Nasdaq.
