Nasdaq Taps Crypto Insider for Tokenization Push
Jackson McGonagle has taken on a key role at Nasdaq as it advances its digital asset and tokenization strategy. As AVP, Capital Markets Digital Assets Strategy, he will focus on digital assets and tokenization within the exchange operator's capital markets business.
McGonagle's career has bridged traditional finance and crypto. He began at NYSE Euronext before moving to Binance in 2018 as a digital assets trader. After nearly three years at Fidelity Digital Assets, he worked on institutional digital assets and DeFi at Numeus Group and Re7 Capital.
Nasdaq is moving closer to integrating blockchain technology into its core market infrastructure. In July, the exchange participated in a live production event with DTCC, demonstrating tokenized securities operating within existing infrastructure. Nasdaq's digital-assets strategy has expanded, and it has consolidated its digital-market capabilities under a new Digital Liquidity Networks unit.
McGonagle sees tokenization as a key component of blockchain's potential to modernize global capital markets' infrastructure.
