Navigating Cryptocurrency Trading Apps in India: A Guide for Beginners
Buying cryptocurrency in India may seem complicated for beginners, but most crypto trading apps follow a simple process. The first step is to choose a compliant platform that operates in India and supports Indian rupee (INR) transactions.
The Financial Intelligence Unit-India (FIU-IND) requires virtual digital asset service providers to comply with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Choose an app, register using your mobile number and email, and complete Know Your Customer (KYC) verification. The website will typically require personal information, PAN, and valid identification proofs.
After completing KYC, you can add INR to your trading account through supported payment methods like UPI or bank transfer. Check the platform's minimum and maximum limits, processing time, and applicable charges before making a deposit.
Once the money reaches your account, go to the trading section and select the cryptocurrency you want to buy. Enter either the amount in INR or the quantity of crypto you want, review the current price and fees, and confirm the order if everything looks right.
However, keep in mind that cryptocurrency prices can move sharply within a short period, and virtual digital asset transactions carry significant risks. The government has warned that these transactions may not offer regulatory recourse for losses.
