Navitas Semiconductor Set to Ship First Gen 5 GaNFast Wafers in September

Navitas Semiconductor (NVTS) is gearing up to start shipping its first U.S.-made Gen 5 GaNFast wafers in September, marking a significant milestone in domestic power semiconductor production. The company has been working with GlobalFoundries on the development of its fifth-generation GaNFast platform for production at their 200mm GaN-on-silicon facility in Burlington, Vermont.

The partnership between Navitas and GlobalFoundries aims to accelerate domestic GaN development and manufacturing, providing a U.S.-based supply option for markets that value domestic semiconductor sourcing. The first product family will include 650-volt GaN FETs across several on-resistance specifications for different power requirements, targeting power systems that require different balances between efficiency, switching performance, size, and thermal control.

Navitas expects the September shipment to be followed by internal samples in October and strategic customer samples before year-end. The company's Gen 5 program extends its technical base into a manufacturing process designed for 200mm GaN-on-silicon wafers, supporting greater production scale when fabrication yields and customer demand reach commercial targets.
