NCA Freezes £10 Million in Premier League Account Amid Sorare Investigation
The National Crime Agency (NCA) has frozen £10 million of Premier League cash as part of an investigation into alleged criminality involving crypto-gaming firm Sorare.
Sorare, which runs a digital card game backed by Lionel Messi and other stars, denies any wrongdoing. The NCA obtained an order from Westminster magistrates' court in January 2025 to freeze the funds under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
The £10 million was the first down payment made by Sorare as part of its £30 million-a-year deal with the Premier League. The money was held in a Barclays account belonging to the Premier League's management company.
