NEAR Token Surges on Sovereign Wealth Fund Proposal and US ETF Interest
NEAR Protocol's native token has seen a significant surge in recent days, climbing over 3% in the past 24 hours. This upward trend is attributed to several fresh catalysts that have piqued investor interest.
The introduction of a proposed sovereign wealth fund by NEAR co-founder Illia Polosukhin has been a major development. The fund would be established with an initial allocation of 30 million NEAR and would generate yield from protocol assets instead of relying on token emissions to finance ecosystem operations.
Polosukhin's proposal also outlines a governance model called the 'House of Stake,' which would place treasury decisions on-chain through a transparent voting process. Supporters argue that this move could improve accountability and give token holders more visibility into how protocol reserves are deployed.
Institutional interest has also been boosted by Bitwise's amended registration documents for a proposed US spot NEAR exchange-traded fund (ETF). Although the SEC has not approved a spot NEAR ETF, amendments to registration statements are commonly viewed as part of the regulatory review process.
Macro-economic conditions have also contributed to improved sentiment around digital asset investment products. Lower oil prices and easing inflation concerns have helped increase risk appetite across financial markets, creating a more favorable backdrop for cryptocurrencies.
