NEAR Warns Quantum Computing Threat Looms Large Over Blockchain Security
NEAR Protocol Co-Founder Illia Polosukhin has sounded the alarm about the looming threat of quantum computing to blockchain security. As quantum technology advances, it may undermine the security of public key infrastructures used in blockchain.
Polosukhin emphasized that NEAR is moving beyond research and actively integrating quantum-resistant safeguards into its platform. The FIPS-204 standard and ML-DSA signature scheme are being implemented to mitigate potential risks associated with quantum computing.
This proactive approach aims to ensure the safety of user crypto assets, which could be vulnerable to exploitation by future quantum computers. NEAR Protocol is a blockchain platform designed for decentralized applications, aiming to provide a scalable solution for developers.
