Nexo Capital Registers as Lobbyist with U.S. Federal Government
The Cayman Islands-based cryptocurrency exchange platform Nexo Capital has registered as a lobbyist for the U.S. federal government, partnering with former CIA Venezuela chief of station Enrique A. de la Torre's firm Tower Strategy.
This move comes after Nexo received a $45 million fine from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in early 2023, leading to its operations being suspended in the United States until February of this year.
Nexo has since relaunched its services in partnership with Bakkt, a digital asset trading infrastructure firm owned by the Intercontinental Exchange, which nearly acquired Trump Media and Technology Group last year. The company's co-founder Antoni Trenchev is a former Bulgarian parliament member.
