Nigeria Dominates Africa in Stablecoin Inflows with $59 Billion
Nigeria has emerged as one of the leading countries in sub-Saharan Africa for stablecoin inflows, accounting for roughly 60% of the region's total since 2019. According to a June 2026 International Monetary Fund (IMF) report, Nigeria received approximately $59 billion in crypto-asset inflows between July 2023 and June 2024.
The country ranked second globally on Chainalysis's 2024 Global Crypto Adoption Index and sixth in 2025. The IMF attributes this largely to households and small businesses rather than institutional trading.
Bitget Wallet, with over 100 million global users, has driven Nigeria's growth, particularly through its self-custodial crypto wallet built for everyday finance. More than half of Bitget Wallet's global users are based in Africa, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Latin America.
