Nillion Unveils Seven-Phase Roadmap to Bring Privacy to Onchain Trading
Nillion's Encrypted Markets roadmap aims to bring privacy to onchain trading by extending blockchain privacy beyond transaction data to execution and strategy layers. The system is built around a primitive called the Covenant, an encrypted instruction that self-decrypts and executes only when specific conditions are met.
The first phase of the roadmap, Dusk, will launch on Ethereum mainnet on 28 September 2026. This phase will bring the first Covenants to Ethereum's Layer 1, created and resolved without any single trusted party in control.
Over the next seven phases, the system will add multi-chain support, cross-chain settlement, custom condition logic, a formalized Covenants virtual machine, post-quantum cryptography hardening, and scaling for everyday use. The roadmap is designed to gradually build trust and infrastructure on Ethereum first before spreading across chains.
The Encrypted Markets system ensures node security and accountability through permissionless nodes that operate with consensus mechanisms that enforce jailing and slashing for misbehavior.
