Nimiq Seeks Developers for Second Mini Apps Competition
Nimiq is hosting its second Mini Apps Competition, aiming to attract developers, AI builders, and indie hackers to build open-source applications for Nimiq Pay. The competition offers a total of over $50,000 in prizes, with $17,000 up for grabs in Cycle II alone.
The framework allows developers to create lightweight web apps that integrate with Nimiq Pay's wallet functionality and payment rails, without submitting to iOS or Android app stores. This model reduces friction associated with conventional app distribution, as developers retain control of their applications, infrastructure, and intellectual property.
Nimiq is revamping its vision for the future of payments, focusing on an open framework that enables developers to bring their own creations directly into its payment app. The company's Executive Director, Max Burger, describes this moment as an 'App Store moment' for crypto payments.
