Nina Rong: Lowering Gas Fees Not Top Priority for Blockchain Industry
Nina Rong, the growth leader of BNB Chain, has weighed in on the ongoing debate over Robinhood Chain's fee model. In a Twitter post on September 6, she stated that further lowering gas fees is no longer the top priority for the blockchain industry.
Rong pointed out that each blockchain should prioritize establishing a sustainable business model that feeds back into its development and growth. She cited examples of revenue streams such as gas fees, revenue distribution, and commercial contracts.
The statement comes in response to a fee debate sparked by Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana, who claimed that Robinhood Chain's use of Arbitrum's protocol allowed it to allocate 10% of its protocol pure revenue towards assisting Solana users with gas fees. This was countered by Steven Goldfeder, co-founder of Offchain Labs, which developed Arbitrum, who argued that Robinhood Chain retained the majority of the fee income by operating a dedicated chain.
