Nomura-Backed Laser Digital Brings Fixed Income Onchain via Keyring Partnership
Nomura-backed Laser Digital has made significant strides in the crypto space by partnering with Keyring to bring fixed income onchain. This move comes amidst Japan's shift towards a financial-instruments framework, which has led to the country's first new crypto service provider registration in four years.
This partnership is notable as it brings together two key players in the industry. Laser Digital, backed by Nomura, has been actively working on expanding its operations and has even applied for a national trust bank charter with the OCC to operate in the US at the federal level.
The tokenization of short-term fixed income products is seen as a key role in institutional operations, according to Andy Baehr, head of asset management at GSR. This trend is gaining momentum, with companies like Pyth Network adding new institutional data partners and expanding their offerings in the fixed income market.
