Nomura-Backed Laser Digital Invests in ZigChain's Native Cryptocurrency
Nomura Holdings-backed Laser Digital has made a strategic investment in the native cryptocurrency ZIG of Layer 1 blockchain ZigChain. This move aims to co-build an on-chain financial infrastructure for institutional investors.
ZigChain is a Layer 1 blockchain focused on building foundations for asset management and on-chain finance, with its ecosystem also featuring Zig Markets, which provides institutional-grade products. Laser Digital, a digital asset company under Nomura Holdings, has invested in ZIG as part of this partnership to build a structured product design and governance-enabled on-chain credit market.
The joint effort seeks to construct an on-chain credit market that utilizes blockchain technology for lending and credit-related activities, including structured products and trade. This market will include private credit, private equity, and real estate investments, with a target TVL (total value locked) of over $100 million in the pipeline.
The partnership has been under discussion for over a year, focusing on on-chain yield, actual financial activities, and emerging markets' private credit. Laser Digital is also exploring providing ZIG to individual investors, although specific details such as participation conditions, target regions, minimum investment amounts, and distribution methods remain unclear.
