Nordea Ups MicroStrategy Stake Amid Crypto Ambitions
Nordea Investment Management AB has made another significant purchase in MicroStrategy shares, acquiring an additional 3,231 shares worth approximately $317K. This move brings its total holdings to 29,767 shares.
The company's previous filing showed it held 26,536 shares as of March 31, indicating a roughly 12% increase in the position.
Nordea's interest in Strategy is not surprising, given its transformation under Michael Saylor's leadership into the world's largest corporate Bitcoin treasury. As a result, every share of MSTR acts as an indirect exposure to Bitcoin, providing a convenient workaround for institutional investors bound by mandates that prevent them from holding crypto directly.
Notably, Nordea has announced plans to launch a synthetic Bitcoin-linked exchange-traded product in December 2025, targeting experienced investors specifically. This product will use derivatives and financial engineering to replicate Bitcoin's price performance within a fully regulated framework, without the custody headaches of actually holding digital assets.
