North Korea Ties Threaten Hyperliquid's US Foothold
A North Korean cryptocurrency group has been linked to over $30 million in Bitcoin transactions through Hyperliquid, sparking concerns about potential sanctions.
The Lazarus Group, sanctioned by the US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) in 2019, allegedly moved funds through Hyperliquid over a three-week period. The exchange's native token, HYPE, traded at $84 on the BeInCrypto Markets page, but has shown no significant impact from the news.
Hype has reached a record high of $86.71, just days before the wallet activity surfaced. The US entry plans for Hyperliquid are now under scrutiny as the CFTC and OFAC consider the compliance risks associated with the exchange.
