North Korean Hackers Busted in Internal Crypto Theft Scandal

North Korean authorities have arrested a group of elite hackers accused of stealing cryptocurrency from state-controlled banks. The hackers allegedly stole funds from two institutions, the Chosun Central Bank and the Foreign Trade Bank.

The investigation led to the arrest of former members of North Korea's cyber warfare unit under the Reconnaissance and Intelligence General Bureau. According to reports, the group recruited graduates from Kim Chaek University of Technology and Pyongyang University of Science.

Investigations revealed that the stolen cryptocurrency was laundered through brokers in China, who converted the digital assets into cash before exchanging them for fiat currencies near North Korea's border.
