Northeast Community Bancorp Earnings Slip Despite Strong Construction Lending
Northeast Community Bancorp (NECB) reported lower second-quarter earnings compared to the same period last year, but strong construction lending and expanding loan balances continued to support overall operating performance.
The company's net income was $9.8 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, down from $11.2 million during the same period in 2025. Diluted earnings per share declined to $0.72 from $0.82 a year earlier.
Construction lending remained the primary growth driver throughout the first half of 2026, with construction loan commitments and loans-in-process increasing 38.9% from the prior-year quarter.
