Notabene Launches Revert to Close Crypto's Biggest Gap
Notabene has launched Revert, a post-settlement control layer for digital asset transactions. This new infrastructure enables institutions to safely control, authorize, and track returns of settled crypto transactions, a capability that previously did not exist in blockchain payments.
The launch addresses a long-standing gap in the cryptocurrency ecosystem, where there was no coordinated mechanism to return funds after a transaction had settled. This lack of standardization has made it difficult for institutions to comply with regulatory requirements, such as those imposed by the EU Transfer of Funds Regulation.
Revert is built on the Transaction Authorization Protocol (TAP) and enables institutions to coordinate refunds across counterparties as a shared network standard. The launch lands at a time when return-of-funds obligations are tightening across jurisdictions, with the Notabene Network already connecting over 2,200 regulated institutions across 100+ jurisdictions.
Pelle Braendgaard, CEO of Notabene, stated that blockchain finality makes sense for settlement but does not address the need for coordinating across counterparties, correcting mistakes, and unwinding transactions. He believes that Revert is a necessary step towards supporting real business payments in the cryptocurrency space.
