NPF-NCCC Recovers ₦3.6 Billion in Cryptocurrency Proceeds
The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) has made significant strides in tracing and recovering cryptocurrency proceeds. According to AIG Akaninyene Ezima, over ₦3.6 billion was converted into cryptocurrency through various means.
These funds were allegedly laundered through entities like JPM Enterprise Trading, Ahmad Digital Business, and JPM Pro Online Venture. The investigation revealed that Kestart Technology served as a terminal off-ramp for these proceeds.
The police arrested Kelechi Sistus Ihekaire, sole proprietor of Kestart Technology, over an alleged international cyber-enabled investment fraud and money laundering operation. Ihekaire admitted to owning the company and engaging in peer-to-peer cryptocurrency trading on Bybit.
