NSA Ditches CLARITY Act Opposition as Senate Vote Looms
The CLARITY Act has lost its opposition from the National Sheriffs' Association (NSA) just ten days before the crucial vote in the Senate on September 15, 2026. The NSA had been blocking the crypto regulation text for months, but it has now shifted to a neutral stance.
This development is significant because Republicans already hold 53 of the required 60 votes in the Senate. With the NSA's opposition removed, they may be able to convince at least seven reluctant Democrats to vote in favor of the bill.
However, the CLARITY Act still faces major points of friction, including Section 604 and the $1.4 billion in crypto revenues linked to the Trump family. These issues could cause further delays or even derail the bill altogether.
Alice Liu from CoinMarketCap warns that if the CLARITY Act passes, it could lead to a 'sell the news' scenario, where investors sell their assets due to expected profit-taking. Liu also predicts that Bitcoin will reach $500,000 by 2030, but is more cautious on AI tokens.
