The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Tether to explore asset tokenization, blockchain-based settlement, and investor education in Kenya.

The agreement aims to modernize Kenya's capital market infrastructure using distributed ledger technology. Under the partnership, Tether and the NSE plan to test instant settlement mechanisms and fractionalized security trading through Hadron, Tether's asset tokenization platform.

The use of USDT as a digital settlement infrastructure layer could eliminate the NSE's 3-level settlement delay and boost liquidity in Kenya's $26.4 billion market.
