Nu Partners with Sygnum for Stablecoin Custody Amid Brazil's Crypto Regulation Shift
Nu Global, the multi-currency account launched by Nu Holdings, Nubank's parent company, has partnered with Swiss digital asset bank Sygnum to provide custody and trading infrastructure. This partnership allows customers of Nu Global to hold and trade stablecoins and cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, transfer funds across over 35 countries, and earn yield on USDC and EURC balances.
Nu Global is offered through Nu Global AG, a Swiss entity under Nu Holdings, and pairs a Mastercard-branded virtual card with stablecoin holdings. Sygnum supplies the custody, trading, and fiat-to-crypto conversion infrastructure behind the product.
The launch of Nu Global coincides with Brazil's central bank tightening cross-border crypto rules. Resolution BCB 561 bars regulated electronic FX providers from settling offshore transactions in stablecoins or other cryptocurrencies, a practice used by firms such as Nomad and Braza Bank.
