Nuclea Partners with New Mining to Explore Nuclear-Powered Data Centers
Nuclea Energy, an American small modular reactor (SMR) firm, has partnered with New Mining Co., a US-based Bitcoin miner and hosting services provider, to evaluate the deployment of Nuclea's nuclear reactor technology at New Mining's data centers across the United States.
The two companies have signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which sets out a collaborative framework for assessing the feasibility of co-locating advanced modular power units utilizing Nuclea's proprietary technology at or adjacent to New Mining's facilities.
New Mining CEO Denis Slabakov said, 'As our infrastructure continues to scale, exploring reliable, carbon-free, behind-the-meter power options is a natural next step for our operations. Bitcoin mining is an energy-intensive business, and access to stable, competitively priced power has always been central to how we compete.'
The evaluation will be structured in two phases: the initial phase focuses on engineering scoping for New Mining's current approximately 30MWe of operational data center load, followed by a scalability phase evaluating modular expansion toward a capacity of up to 100MWe.
