NVIDIA and Silvaco Team Up on Revolutionary Semiconductor Design Partnership
Silvaco, a company that specializes in semiconductor and multiphysics digital twin capabilities, has announced a strategic alliance with NVIDIA. This collaboration aims to create comprehensive virtual models of semiconductor architectures capable of forecasting and refining real-world performance prior to actual production.
According to the partnership, Silvaco will harness NVIDIA's GPU-accelerated computing power to dramatically enhance the performance of its device simulation, process modeling, photonics analysis, and multiphysics calculation platforms. In an initial demonstration of capability, Silvaco executed a complete 3D FDTD simulation featuring a photonic edge coupler with 3.2 billion mesh nodes across 32 NVIDIA GPUs interconnected through NVLink technology.
This complex workload completed in under four hours, showcasing a remarkable precision with less than 0.15 dB deviation between measured results and simulated outputs. Traditional CPU-based systems failed to achieve convergence for the identical task.
The strategic alliance encompasses four core technology areas: GPU-powered physics-based simulation, artificial intelligence-enhanced surrogate modeling, digital twin visualization utilizing NVIDIA Omniverse and Cosmos platforms, and enterprise-scale engineering workflow optimization.
