Nvidia-Backed Firmus Raises $2 Billion for AI Infrastructure
Firmus, a former Bitcoin mining giant, has taken a massive step into AI infrastructure by raising $2 billion in an investment round featuring giants like Nvidia and Blackstone.
The company's shift from cryptocurrency mining to AI infrastructure provision has resonated throughout the tech world, with support coming from key names including tech giant Nvidia. The total equity investment secured by Firmus pushed its valuation past $10.5 billion.
Nvidia and Coatue Management continued their existing support in this strategic investment round, while funds managed by Blackstone and Jane Street joined as new investors. Firmus will use the hardware and energy management experience it gained from its history in Bitcoin (BTC) mining to strengthen the artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem.
The company plans to build AI factories with Nvidia's GPU power and its own operational capabilities, positioning itself at a critical point in the global technology race. A portion of the investment will be used for expansion strategies in the Asian market, where the company's ability to build high-capacity data centers from its mining roots will play a key role.
