Nvidia CEO Claims Company Has Achieved Artificial General Intelligence
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has sparked controversy in the tech community by claiming that his company has achieved Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). During a March 2026 appearance on the Lex Fridman podcast, Huang stated, 'I think we've achieved AGI.'
Huang's definition of AGI is not about an AI system matching human cognitive abilities across various tasks. Instead, he believes that AGI can be achieved if an AI agent can autonomously build and run a company valued at over $1 billion.
Nvidia has already demonstrated this capability with its own AI coding agent, AVO, which achieved a perfect 100% score on the ARC-AGI-3 benchmark in August 2026. This benchmark tests an AI system's reasoning and generalization capabilities.
Huang acknowledges that the probability of multiple AI agents independently building a company like Nvidia is 'zero percent.'
