Nvidia Chip Export Controls Bypassed Through Overseas Data Centers
Washington's export controls have been implemented to restrict Nvidia's (NASDAQ: NVDA) most powerful AI chips from being directly shipped to China. However, this measure may not be as effective as intended.
The restriction can be bypassed when the processors are stored in third-country data centers or cloud providers and accessed remotely by Chinese AI developers.
This gap in export controls has raised concerns about security and adoption for global AI supply chains. It also has potential knock-on effects for crypto infrastructure, DeFi, CEX, and token launch ecosystems that rely on AI-enabled cloud services.
