Nvidia Dominance: Anthropic Locks in $35 Billion Cloud Deal
Anthropic, a leading AI research firm, has signed a massive cloud deal with Lambda worth $35 billion. The agreement covers approximately 350 megawatts of Nvidia capacity at a Texas data center developed by Hut 8.
Nvidia holds the site lease and will supply the hardware for Lambda's systems, which will provide computing capacity for Anthropic's Claude models.
This deal marks another significant commitment to Nvidia hardware, with Anthropic already having a $45 billion agreement with Nscale for 460 megawatts of West Virginia capacity using Nvidia's Vera Rubin systems.
Anthropic's reliance on Nvidia hardware has raised concerns about transparency in financing relationships and potential demand reinforcement. Hut 8, a former Bitcoin miner, is repurposing its infrastructure to meet the growing demand for AI expansion.
