Nvidia Tokens Dominate Base's Tokenized Stock Market with $94.6M in Trading Volume
Base, Coinbase's layer-2 network, has seen significant trading activity since its launch on August 24. The tokenized stock market recorded a cumulative trading volume of $94.6 million within just one week.
The four available stocks are NVDAc, GOOGLc, AAPLc, and METAc, with Nvidia's token leading the way at $53.7 million of the total volume. Alphabet's token came in second with $17.1 million, followed by Apple's token at $12.9 million and Meta's token at $10.9 million.
The trading volume surged abruptly from August 24 onward, peaking at around $30 million on August 27. Aerodrome, Base's leading DEX, concentrated a large share of the volume, with its native token AERO rising 11.6% in the 24 hours following the launch.
Base's architecture allows for tokenized stocks to be used as collateral in DeFi applications, expanding their utility beyond pure trading. The pricing system runs on Chainlink's oracle infrastructure, ensuring a reliable and transparent process.
