NVIDIA Unveils Jetson Orin Nano 2, Redefining Edge AI Computing
NVIDIA has unveiled its latest innovation in edge AI computing, the Jetson Orin Nano 2. This compact device promises to double the AI performance of its predecessor while consuming 40% less power.
The Jetson Orin Nano 2 boasts an impressive 78 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of AI compute and features an 8-core Arm CPU along with 8GB of memory, all within a compact form factor. This device is optimized for cutting-edge generative AI models and large language models (LLMs), making it suitable for real-time perception, interaction, and navigation.
NVIDIA's VP of Robotics and Edge AI, Deepu Talla, emphasized the significance of this leap in capability: 'The Jetson Orin Nano 2 delivers the performance and energy efficiency needed for real-time reasoning at the edge, putting small yet powerful AI solutions within reach of millions of developers.'
The new device has garnered interest from key players such as Wing, Alphabet's drone delivery subsidiary, which plans to evaluate the Orin Nano 2 for its fleet. Matic Robotics is also integrating the device into cleaning robots to enable advanced perception and navigation capabilities.
